Managing Quantity Surveyor

A leading main contractor is looking for a Managing Quantity Surveyor to commercially lead a specialist in-house business unit.

The main objective of the role is to deliver the commercial requirements for a portfolio of projects covering a variety of sectors across the wider business.

Key duties will include:

  • Managing all commercial aspects of projects including the design and implementation of commercial strategies, whilst maintaining regular liaison with all stakeholders.
  • Assist in building a commercial team, managing the development of junior members, establishing personal plans and monitoring these on an on-going basis.
  • Collate, analyse, and challenge CVRs and forecasts, implementing required actions as required.
  • Negotiating terms and conditions with subcontractors and suppliers, with a focus on managing risk and delivering best value to the project and the client.
  • Assisting in maximising of cash production, including cash flow production and improvement plans for all projects.
  • Assisting in work winning duties as required.

Responsible of the end-to-end delivery of a portfolio of projects for different business units across the wider business.

Projects cover a wide variety of industry sectors including natural resources, transportation, water, and power.

You will lead small commercial teams on projects, mentoring them, delivering training where needed, and generally overseeing progression and development activities.

Candidate Requirements

Our client is looking for Managing Quantity Surveyors looking for a career move. They are also keen to see experienced Senior or Project Quantity Surveyors looking for career progression.

Minimum of 7 years' commercial experience supporting the delivery of infrastructure or general civil engineering projects.

Must have NEC contract experience, and be comfortable managing these contracts end-to-end, including change management activities.

Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, and subcontractors.

Relevant quantity surveying or commercial management degree.
