A leading infrastructure contractor is looking for a Commercial Manager to join their team in Birmingham.

The main objective of the role is to use contract mechanisms to manage the company's contractual entitlements for sections of a major infrastructure project.

Key duties will include:

  • Negotiating change (time and money) entitlements under the contract.
  • Proactively identifying and raising change notices as required and, where applicable, converting to compensation events.
  • Preparing quotations.
  • Managing a small commercial team.
  • Interacting with relevant internal teams to ensure consistency to enhance the commercial position across the project.
  • Supporting, as required, the Commercial Lead with other change related matters.
  • Helping to negotiate and resolve compensation events and disputes.

Responsible for a small commercial team delivering various change related matters for NEC contracts as part of a major infrastructure project.

This role will focus on delving into NEC contracts and negotiating change entitlements, and other change related matters, representing and enhancing the commercial position of the project.

Interfacing with a variety of internal and external stakeholders including senior managers, the client and wider commercial and project teams.

Candidate Requirements

Minimum of 5 years' commercial experience negotiating and managing NEC contracts end-to-end for projects.

You will have a proven ability of scrutinising NEC contracts and renegotiating clauses, resolving compensation events, and other change related matters.

Strong negotiation, subcontractor management, and communication skills.

Relevant construction or quantity surveying degree is desirable.
