SCAPE are a new client, this was the first of a few initials assignment that we were provided following their appointment of the new Operations Director, who we’ve worked with for many years.
Following a restructure of the central procurement and commercial team, the Operations Director required a new hire to support the management of central contracts.
AR Resourcing were appointed to recruit a Senior Quantity Surveyor to produce updated versions of framework contract agreements.
We were briefed to identify senior quantity surveyors and experience QS’ with strong construction project experience from any medium to large main contractor. A strong understanding of JCT or NEC, together with solid contract negotiation and drafting experience was also required.
We provided SCAPE our Contingent (Plan 3) recruitment service, we worked alongside other agencies to identify, qualify and present suitable candidates.
We contacted our recently registered candidate network across regional cost consultancies and main contractors.
We also advertised the role on our website, LinkedIn, job boards and our Job Alerts candidate email to help identify additional candidates.
The challenge with this assignment was finding candidates of an appropriate calibre within the salary band, as SCAPE are a public-sector partnership their salaries didn’t initially line up to the consultancy and contractor candidate pool that we were approaching. When interviewing candidates we qualified their experience of project exposure, stakeholder management and contractual understanding.
Three CVs were shortlisted within two weeks, two candidates were selected for interview.
Two candidates were invited back for a final interview, and the preferred candidate was successfully offered and appointed.
