Commercial Manager

A Leading Construction Contractor is looking for a Commercial Manager to join their team based in the Southern region.

The main objective of the role is to lead the work winning and delivery of a large regional construction project, for high profile clients.

You will...

  • Lead the commercial management of projects from pre construction through to completion.
  • Manage and develop commercial teams, including Quantity Surveyors and Assistants.
  • Oversee procurement strategies and subcontractor management.
  • Ensure robust cost control, forecasting and reporting across projects.
  • Manage variations, change control and commercial risk.
  • Support contract negotiations and ensure contractual compliance.
  • Work closely with project, design and operational teams to support successful delivery.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and key stakeholders.

Further Details

Delivering 2-3 construction projects for both public and private sector clients worth up to £100mil+.

Your time will be spent supporting work winning teams when bidding, and leading site commercial teams at delivery stage.

Candidate Requirements

Minimum of 10+ year’s commercial experience for tier 1 contractors, currently working as a Commercial Manager.

Minimum of 2 years leadership experience developing commercial project strategies and leading small to medium sized commercial teams.

Demonstrable track record of successfully delivering medium to large sized construction projects.

Delivering projects through the full lifecycle from work winning, mobilisation, project delivery and financial close out.

Demonstrable track record of managing JCT and / or NEC contracts, with strong contract knowledge and legal awareness.

Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders and clients at director level.

Highly resilient, with gravitas and strength of character to ensure project commercial strategies are successfully delivered.

Relevant commercial degree. MRICS qualifications is desirable however not essential.
