A leading infrastructure contractor is looking for a Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team near York.

The main objective of the role is to deliver the commercial requirements for a portfolio of utilities works as part of a regional infrastructure upgrade programme.

Key duties will include:

  • Assisting the commercial department and project team to maximise profit and reduce risk.
  • Managing internal and external stakeholders to ensure deadlines are met effectively and efficiently and that outcomes are achieved.
  • Responsible for subcontractor management, ensuring all subcontractors and suppliers have submitted compliant quotations, enquiries, and applications within the timescale required.
  • Producing monthly assessments, variations, CE claims, and final account agreements.
  • Assisting with production of monthly project financial and forecasts to complete reports for analysis with finance and commercial Staff.

Further Details

Assisting the delivery of a portfolio of utilities works on a scheme of projects guaranteed for at least the next 3 years.

Project works range from wiring maintenance, replacement and refurbishment, to steelwork maintenance and renewal and line entry and enabling works associated with route reconfigurations.

As well as assisting a Managing Quantity Surveyor on larger schemes of works, you will hold responsibility for delivering multiple smaller projects and with that be accountable for all commercial aspects of these.

Projects are delivered under NEC4 forms of contract, any working experience of using these contracts is beneficial.

Candidate Requirements

Our client is looking for Quantity Surveyors looking for a career move. They are also keen to see experienced Assistant Quantity Surveyors looking for career progression with experience of managing their own projects.

Minimum of 3 years' experience delivering the commercial requirements for civil engineering projects within an infrastructure environment, any utilities project experience is desirable.

Demonstrable experience of preparing and presenting long-term forecasts and reports for projects.

Experience of managing NEC contracts desirable.

Relevant quantity surveying degree.
