A leading construction contractor is looking for a Quantity Surveyor to join their team in Wigan.

The main objective of the role is to deliver the commercial requirements of regional construction projects covering the education, healthcare, and justice sectors.

Key duties will include:

  • Responsible for the commercial management of a section of a large project or on several smaller projects.
  • Preparing accurate draft subcontracts and approving such drafts as prepared by Commercial Team within the region.
  • Liaising with Contracts Managers on the day-to-day commercial administration of contracts, ensuring the financial success of contracts.
  • Working with the pre-construction team to provide commercial management of projects during pre-construction phases.
  • Line management responsibilities, including supervising, mentoring and encouraging junior staff in their personal professional development.
  • Involvement in dispute avoidance and resolution.

Majority of the projects fall within the education sector, delivering new schools and higher education facilities.

The role will involve a combination of office based work and weekly site visits across the region.

Candidate Requirements

Our client is looking for Quantity Surveyors looking for a career move. They are also keen to see experienced Assistant Quantity Surveyors looking for career progression.

You will have a minimum of 5 years' commercial experience, assisting with the delivery of new build and/or construction projects.

Must have experience and working knowledge of managing NEC and/or JCT forms of contract.

Strong experience of procuring and managing subcontracts, and an ability to negotiate with clients and subcontractors.
